Lost Mines-Ancient Pines
One of Tasmania's standout wilderness tours. Remarkably, here exists forest where Huon and King Billy pines, many over a thousand years old, grow together.
Inhale the scents of Sassafras and Leatherwood in these unique to Western Tasmania thamnic forests.
During the 1890's the Copper mining boom ranged from alluvial to underground ore stoping.
Explore pioneer mines, try your hand at panning gold, rock-chip ore sampling and enjoy an authentic underground miners crib break.

Lake Margaret Hydropower
One of the fascinating Queenstown Tasmania things to do.
At the turn of last century the Mt Lyell Mining and Railway company was one of the largest and wealthiest mining operations in the country.
Voracious furnaces had consumed the forests for energy and coal could not be found.

Enter the roaring 1914 commissioned powerhouse, see horizontal shaft Pelton wheel turbines driving open alternators
